Since my last post in June or 2024, I’ve taken several short trips around North Carolina. Here’s some of my favorite photos.

In June, I visited Priddy’s General Store located in Danbury, NC. It’s been in business and operated by the same family since 1888!

Around the same time in June, I took a day trip to Raleigh, NC Museum of Art and captured the wild flowers and whimsical whirligig made by Vollis Simpson. Visit the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park in Wilson, NC if you ever have the chance.

On a trip in July to the mountains of NC, I drove along the Blue Ridge Parkway and got some photos of the old cabin and flowers

Later, While exploring around Stone Mountain State Park, I found this old station and signs.

The old Church is in Stone Mountain State Park.

In August, I visited Saluda, NC and got this photo of Pearson’s Falls before the trail was heavily damaged by hurricane Helene.

In October, I got some shots of Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS.

In November on a trip to Winston – Salem, I was finally able to get a photo of the historic Shell Shaped Service Station. It served as a gas station for decades, was restored in the 1990s by state historic society, Preservation North Carolina.

I was on my way to Columbus, NC but had to detour to see Love Valley, NC. A friend went there many years ago to an outdoor music festival and I was always curious about the place. It’s now mostly a horse town for trail riding.

A visit to the Washburn General Store in Bostic, NC was in order while out sight seeing in the Columbus area.

On the grounds of the Bostic Lincoln Center.

Old trains parked in downtown Bostic, NC.

You pass pass Shunkawauken Falls on the way to the top.

In January, I took a winter trip to Eastern NC in hopes of seeing the migratory birds. See the video below, I shot lots of video but few photos.
