In 2024, I start the year in Quartzsite, AZ and travel across Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas visiting train museums and friends. In Texas, I visit multiple BBQ joints featured on Food TV Shows. I then travel to Natchez, Mississippi to take the Natchez Trace north to Nashville, Tennessee. I visit more family and friends before finally making it home for a brief time. I then traveled to Forest City, Iowa to Winnebago for some warranty repairs and back home then to Hot Springs, Arkansas before settling in for the summer at home and short local trips. In October, I took a cross country train trip from Greensboro, NC to Washington, DC then Chicago, IL then Emeryville, CA near San Francisco then Seattle, WA before having to book my first hotel night. Next day, I boarded the train back to Chicago where I stayed the night. Next day I boarded the train back to Washington, DC where I had to stay the night before catching the final train home to Greensboro, NC. 7 Trains in 10 Days!
In 2023, my travels took a turn with some major changes. On the way to North Carolina, I struck some road debris and tore up the front of the car. I’m stopped at my sister and brother-in-law’s house while waiting on parts and repairs. I also need a knee replacement so I stayed with my son in Raleigh to get that done and go through rehab. While there, My car got totaled in a second accident so I sold my Class A motorhome and bought a Winnebago Revel instead of a car. I finish out the year touring in my Revel!
In 2022, I started the year off in Jacksonville Florida and bounced around northern Florida. In the spring, I worked my way north to visit Helen, GA on my way back to Raleigh, NC for the summer. I finished the year heading back south to Florida and celebrating New Years where it all began 7 years ago – at my home park in Bushnell, Florida.
In 2021, After exploring Texas Hill Country and Big Bend, I headed north to Colorado for the summer. I then headed back east to North Carolina for the holidays and then to Florida and the gulf coast for the winter.
In 2020, after wintering in Florida, I went to Alabama just as Covid got into full pandemic mode. At that point I headed back to family in NC and Myrtle Beach, SC to shelter in place. By late summer, I decided I needed to live my life so I hit the road to Michigan and across the upper pennisula and down through the middle of the country to winter in Texas.
In 2019, I left Arizona and worked my way north to spend the summer in and around Idaho. I then traveled back across the country to the NC Coast and south to Florida.
In 2018, I left Yuma, AZ and traveled up the west coast all the way to Alaska! On the return trip, I took in the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State and worked my way back down to Arizona for the winter.
In 2017, I wintered in Texas then traveled across the gulf states to Myrtle Beach, SC and then headed north to Wisconsin. I then traveled through the western states and arrived in Yuma for the winter.
In 2016, my first year on the road, I left North Carolina and went all the way to Key West, Florida then north to the Gaspé Peninsula, QC, Canada then across the country to New Mexico and wintered in Texas.
