With directions from a local and some google satellite scouting, I drove out 25 miles of dirt roads from Winchester Idaho to a point overlooking Hells Canyon.

My Jeep got me there and home.A great campsite for a tent or small camper/van. No place for a big motorhome!
I stayed at Winchester Lake State Park about 35 miles SE of Lewiston. I went into town and got caught in a hail storm!
Once I arrived in Lewiston at Hells Canyon State Park, the first priority was to take a jetboat trip up the Snake River into Hells Canyon. It was a smooth trip with not very big rapids on this section of the river.

From Lewiston, I traveled on north to Spokane, Washington.

From Spokane, I moved to Sandpoint. A much smaller, less congested town that is very walkable. My kind of place! They had a street fair, concerts, and a fly in at the airport all on the same weekend I was there!
Lake Pend Oreille looking toward Sandpoint. The bridge on the left is a decommissioned bridge now used as a bike trail. The bridge in the distance is a rail bridge. About 40 trains a day pass through town. The tracks are well separated from the downtown.Fly in at the Sandpoint Airport.Fly in at the Sandpoint Airport.Fly in at the Sandpoint Airport.Fly in at the Sandpoint Airport.
Hope you enjoyed the photos – I had to slip one photo in that was not so pretty.
I did manage to get my inflatable boat out and enjoy some time on the water with all of the lake stops!
