After attending a friends wedding in Delaware, I started my trek south to Florida for the winter. I stopped to see a couple places on the way that I had missed in the past.
The Angel Oak Park is located on Johns Island where you can find what is known as the Angle Oak. The Southern Live Oak tree is a historical site and focal point of one of the City of Charleston’s public parks. It is considered to be the largest Live Oak Tree east of the Mississippi estimating to be 300 to 400 years old.
The Forsyth Park fountain is one of Savannah‘s most well-known icons. I finally got by to see it.
I love finding and photographing these metal chicken sculptures this one was in Winter Garden, FL.
Fanning Springs State Park located along the Suwannee River in Fanning Springs, Florida.
I spent a week and a half in Cedar Key on the gulf coast of Florida. It’s at the top of my list of favorite places I have been. It reminds me of Ocracoke Island in North Carolina. Here’s a link to the video.
After staying in the Fanning Springs, Chiefland, Cedar Key area, I moved on to Perry, Florida and used that as a base to explore. Keaton Beach was nice but had nothing to do unless you were a fisherman. Next stop was Sopchoppy, FL which was my base for a week and a half while exploring from Crawfordville to St. George Island.
These rusted trucks were intended as a tourist attraction on the roadside south of Crawfordville, FL.
Sopchoppy, FL was a great central location to explore Crawfordville, St. Marks NWR and lighthouse, Carrabelle’s Crooked River Lighthouse, and St. George Island Lighthouse.
The Bottle House in Carrabelle, FL was located in someone’s yard with a small sign inviting you in with the caution to not let their dogs out!
Trees are another favorite subject, These were located in Bald Point State Park.
Ochlockonee River State Park had boating, fishing, camping, and picnic options as well as a scenic drive through the piney woods with a stop at reflection lake.
I took a day trip to St. George Island Lighthouse and Dr. Julian G. Bruce St. George Island State Park. See related contend on my YouTube channel below.
