I stopped in St Louis to visit the Gateway Arch and ride to the top for a view of downtown. I have passed through St Louis many times but never had an opportunity to stop.

Moving on to Pittsburgh, I found this Mail Pouch Barn in Arona near my campground.

I only spent one day in Pittsburgh. I love small town America and the shift to all the traffic, hustle and bustle was too much for me.

The Duquesne Incline, one of two going to the top of Mt Washington. The other nearby is the Monongahela Incline.

Arriving in Gettysburg, the first thing I did was go to the visitors center to get an overview of the park. You could spend the entire day there watching movies, seeing the 360 degree cyclorama painting of Picket’s Charge, and exploring all the artifacts on display. I’m not interested in reading but if you love museums and reading plaques and looking at displays, this is a don’t miss kind of place.

The next couple days were spent taking driving tours of the battleground, walking the city streets, and exploring the surrounding countryside.

Gettysburg National Cemetery is the final resting place for more than 3,500 Union soldiers killed in the Battle of Gettysburg. There are also veterans buried from subsequent wars.
