Before leaving Glacier NP for Yellowstone, I went to see the Hungry Horse Dam on Montana’s Flathead River. The local residents are very proud of the dam and 30 mile long reservoir which creates a recreation mecca for camping, fishing, and boating.

I spent the night at Lake Alva Forest Service Campground on the first night and continued on to Virginia City and Nevada City the next day where I stayed for 3 nights.

I moved on to Henry’s Lake State Park in Idaho which is 12 miles from the west entrance to Yellowstone. I found this to be the perfect location for exploring all of Yellowstone!
