While in Amarillo, Texas, I visited Caprock Canyons State Park and Palo Duro Canyon State Park. Approaching Caprock Canyons I could see Quitaque below from a picnic area. This is the city from which you access the park. Next to the picnic area was a display of 3 crosses, common in Texas. I passed a large cross north of Lubbock but there was no place to stop to photograph it.

The following photos are from Palo Duro Canyon State Park, A much larger canyon that extends for many miles beyond the State Park area.

Names and marks left, I assume, by the CCC workers who built the park.
Lighthouse Rock is the signature feature of Palo Dura Canyon. It was a 6 mile round trip hike, too far for me! This telephoto shot will have to suffice.

I really like seeing the layered look to our planet Earth. Keep up the exploration and recording it. Super job, Jimmie.
